It was a fun filled week from February 13 to 17 as PS 34 students celebrated Leader in Me Spirit Week with wonderful themes and activities. Students had the opportunity to show their school spirit and dress up for a different theme each day and focus on a Leader in Me habit of the day.
Students proudly displayed their college gear or career choice outfit for College and Career Day. College and Career Day provided children the opportunity to Begin With the End in Mind (habit 2) and Be Proactive (habit 1) about their future. In class they had the chance to think about their career and complete a future job application.
For Friendship Day, children wore red, white, or pink and worked on a friendship chain as well as learn about how to renew and have balance in their live through friendship (habit 7-Sharpen the Saw).
Children dressed up with their favorite team gear and participated in cooperative games during gym and learned to work together and Synergize (Habit 6).
Students showed their support and consideration for the environment on Eco Leaders Day by wearing green or an environmental message. Students learned that considering the environment is always a Win- Win (habit 4) In the classroom students learned about sustainability and their community environment through lesson, activities and stories such as The Lorax by Dr. Seuss.
The week culminated with Leadership Day. Students wore their school colors and participated and shared their Leader in Me classroom mission statements and posters they created referencing the 7 habits with their peers at assemblies.
